The Dyslexia Unit is a consultation, intervention and research service of the School of Human and Social Sciences of the UTAD.

It was created in 2005 with the aim of responding to the needs of the community given the scarce supply of specialised diagnostic and intervention services in the field of dyslexia and associated conditions, such as language disorders, attention deficit, dyscalculia, particularly in the North of the country.

Combining a research component which is conducted in national and international networks and a team of psychologists specifically qualified in cognition and language, together with a commitment to sound professional ethics, the Dyslexia Unit offers excellent services in its clinical practice that have been recognised for 10 years as a reference.

The Seeds of Science Prize awarded in 2011 to Professor Ana Paula Vale for her work in the field of dyslexia reflects the recognition of the importance of the contribution of the Dyslexia Unit to the deepening of knowledge in this area of neurocognitive development.
