Programa Apoiar

The Permanent Observatory of Dropout Prevention and Promotion of School Success arises from the concern of the UTAD to understand and monitor its students’ educational careers. Dropout rates in Higher Education, in particular, justify the existence of this Observatory, to make it possible to monitor this phenomenon while promoting strategies to increase educational success.

The strategy of the Permanent Observatory of Dropout Prevention and Promotion of School Success seeks to carry out more than just research and monitoring activities but also intends to be a mechanism with a strong intervention component in cases of university dropout. The Observatory is responsible for the development of identification and intervention tools that are effectively and promptly activated when students are likely to drop out of university, especially when early leaving is due to economic reasons.

Alongside this close monitoring work of students, the Observatory is also the place for the production of knowledge regarding the phenomenon of dropout in Higher Education. Its aim is to produce knowledge that is relevant and can be debated at the institutional level but is also of interest to the general public. It aims to contribute to a more in-depth knowledge on this subject and as a platform for sharing practices to promote educational success.
