Resumo:

The analysis of the situation reveals that there is considerable variation in the scope of measures taken in relation to the sporting participation of people with disabilities. There is no homogeneous framework for tackling this problem, which means that it is difficult to achieve the objective set by the EU. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out actions that allow a common approach, considering the challenges and needs that people with disabilities as well as the entities focused on the practice of sport, must face.

The objective of the INCLUSEA (IN=SEA) is linked to social inclusion and equal opportunities in sport. The practice of sport can improve the health, well-being and quality of life of people with special needs. Surfing is a sport that offers a unique environment to apply an adapted and effective methodology. So, the selection of sports practice has not been random.

We are aware that the subject matter is extremely broad and complex. This proposal wants to focus on a specific profile of people with disabilities: physical and sensory disabilities. It also aims to focus on the therapeutic aspect of surfing.

The main objective of the INCLUSEA (IN=SEA) project is to contribute to social inclusion and equal opportunities in sport, through transnational cooperation formulas that allow the development, transfer and implementation of innovative results.

This project seeks to establish the basis for a common teaching methodology of surfing oriented to people with physical and/or sensory disabilities. INCLUSEA (IN=SEA) is an initiative that transforms the context and focuses on the teaching process with an unique objective: all teachers acquire sufficient skills to transmit to their students a learning methodology based on the same values and objectives. At the end, all final students achieve the learning and skills necessary to enjoy surfing at all levels and with guarantees of safety, promotion and sustainability.
