For the first time, Douro has a prize for the Creative Industries. It’s called Prémio Douro Criativo and it’s promoted by the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro. Prémio Douro Criativo is integrated in Douro Creative Hub project, also promoted by UTAD, that aims to identify, add value and boost the different fields inside the creative industries in the 19 municipalities that form NUTS III Douro.
The prize, open to the country, focuses on Douro and divides itself in 3 competitions: Competition 1 – Business Ideas within the Creative Industries; Competition 2 – Projects connected to the Creative Industries; Competition 3 – Corporate Bodies that incorporate the Creative Industries.
Competition 1, dedicated to Business Ideas within the Creative Industries, aims to reward innovative business ideas, within the creative industries, that enhance the emergence of new products, services, new ways of selling or new market approaches in the region. This competition is divided in 4 categories, from Architecture to Visual Arts, Music to Performing Arts, Content, New Media, Turism or Patrimony.
Competition 2, dedicated to Projects connected to the Creative Industries, is divided in 2 categories: Projects already executed and Projects to be executed. The category Projects already executed aims to recognize projects already fulfilled, between the period of 2015 to the opening of this competition, with global reach, that shine because of their originality, creativity and innovation, adding value to the region, bringing visibility and competitivity and that fits in, at least one of, the fields within the Creative Industries.
In the category Projects to be executed, the goal is to reward projects to be executed until February 2019, with global reach, that shine because of their originality, creativity and innovation, adding value to the region, bringing visibility and competitivity and that fits in, at least one of the fields within the Creative Industries.
Competition 3, Corporate Bodies that incorporate creative industries, it is intended to distinguish corporate bodies that, in spite of not using Creative Industries as a main economical activity, they incorporate in their activities/products/services one or more fields of the creative industries as a way to add value and enhance their value proposition.
The applications must be submitted between March 1st 2018 and April 30th 2018 and its formalisation implies filling an electronic form, according with the indications of the Prize Regulation, available on Prémio Douro Criativo website (www.premiodourocriativo.pt).
With a 24 month duration, Douro Creative Hub is based on the promotion of creative entrepreneurship through Prémio Douro Criativo,on mapping creativity professionals and incubating and mentoring new professionals in a coworking space. It will also be responsible for organising a Creative Camp as a collaboration space to support the development and for showcasing creativity professionals and their work, on Mercado Criativo do Douro.
Douro Creative Hub is promoted by the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro and co financed by the Supporting System to Collective Actions for Low Density Territories – Entrepreneurial Spirit Promotion, in the operation NORTE- 02-0651-FEDER-000060, Portugal 2020.
