The Research Support Office (GAI) of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro is a support structure for the management of research carried out at the institution, namely in the Research Units, R&D centers and Associated Laboratories. The Research Support Office has the following functions:

• Support for applications and management of projects of a scientific nature, within the scope of national and international funding programs (FCT, IC&DT, H2020, Horizonte Europa,…);
• Support for the management of research grants, whether individual or included in projects or Doctoral Programmes;
• Support for the planning, monitoring, implementation and management of plans and reports of activities and accounts of UTAD’s R&D Units;
• Advisory functions of studies, planning and opinions related to R&D, to support the decision by the administration and rectory of UTAD, as well as the directorates of the R&D Units;
• Support for the preparation and elaboration of reports by the R&D Units, as well as other publications and newsletters;
• Complementary support to UTAD’s science communication plan;
• Support for the management of the various communication channels of the R&D Units, in articulation with the competent services of UTAD;
• Organization and support for meetings of directorates, scientific councils, external commissions and other bodies of the structures of the R&D Units and Associated Laboratories;
• Support for the organization of national and international scientific and/or dissemination congresses;
• Management of funded doctoral programs;
• Establishment of the interface between the R&D Units and the FCT, under the supervision and monitoring of the R&D Units’ directorates;
• Advising the directors of the R&D Units on aspects related to national and international partnerships with other entities;
• Support to the Vice-Rector and Pro-Rector in the day-to-day management of processes related to research, infrastructure and scientific projects;
• Carrying out other activities necessary for the regular and proper functioning of the Research Support Office;
