General Objectives
In order to correspond to the expectations of the students and to the demand from society, the teaching of Veterinary Sciences for future professionals covers a wide field of applications, that comprise 11 semesters distributed across 2 Study Cycles and which include:
- Clinical practice with pets, captive and exotic animals, diagnosing the aetiology of morbid processes and prescribing the appropriate therapy, and correctly preparing a prophylactic scheme. Another clinical activity is focused on zoo animal species and on recreational and sport animals, relevant not only to the economy of farms but also to public health.
- Public Health whose activity exceeds intervention at the farm level, is also translated into a much more comprehensive topic, with particular emphasis on the control of zoonoses transmissible by the various domestic, game and wild animal species.
- Food Technology and Sanitary Inspection in the field of Food Safety allow products to be monitored from production to consumption, ensuring the hygiene and health and food quality of the final product. These areas and many other related areas such as biotechnology and diagnosis, health and epidemiosurveillance, are essential in the work of the Veterinarian.
