General Objectives
This is a 1st cycle course with a duration of 6 semesters (180 ECTS) from the Department of Sports Sciences, whose main objective is to train qualified professionals who can act with competence and commitment within certain sectors of society: Hospitals (Paediatric, Paedopsychiatric and Psychiatric services), Education (creches, kindergartens, primary schools and support for students with special educational needs), various other institutions (day centres, social support associations, organisations providing support for people with disabilities, psychopaedagogical centres, geriatric centres, etc.), through the deepening of up-to-date knowledge in order to meet the growing demands and expectations of the present and future market:
- To know the main conceptual and epistemological assumptions of psychomotor rehabilitation resulting from its historical evolution, focused on the operationalisation of a bio-psychosocial model of the human being;
- To know the main processes of normal and atypical human development in the different stages of evolution as well as the various psychomotor problems, integrating knowledge in the field of motor science.
- To know and identify factors that contribute to the development or accentuation of limitations that interfere in the performance of a biopsychosocial motor activity;
- To apply evaluation techniques and instruments, with particular focus on the area ofpsychomotor rehabilitation;
- To apply habilitation and rehabilitation models and techniques in the areas of stimulation, re-education and psychomotor therapy, as well as of the respective research methodologies;
- To use research methodologies in rehabilitation;
- To know and apply the ethical and deontological principles appropriate to the processes related to direct intervention with the different target audiences, in hospital, school, clinical and family contexts;
- To master the conditions of training and integration in the employment market analogous to those of other European States, with a view to qualifying and obtaining a Professional-Psychomotor Therapist qualification.
