General Objectives
This is a 2nd cycle of studies leading to a master's degree in Landscape Architecture, and carries a total of 120 ECTS. This is the value adopted by most European and international universities for comparable training objectives, in order to guarantee a solid foundation in the artistic, scientific and technical aspects, achieved and integrated in project work.

The general objectives of the master's degree course in Landscape Architecture are:
- Advanced training in Design, Planning and Land Use Planning and areas of specialisation in the field of landscape architecture;
- To complement the 1st cycle training leading to the award of a degree in landscape architecture, preparing for professional practice in Europe in accordance with the requirements of EFLA (European Foundation for Landscape Architecture), ECLAS (European Council of Landscape Architecture Schools), and APAP (Portuguese Association of Landscape Architects);
- To achieve recognised equivalence with courses taught by other European educational institutions awarding the same degree, facilitating mobility;
- The necessary preparation for access to the 3rd doctorate cycle in Portuguese and foreign universities.
The course prepares for a specialisation of an academic nature with the use of research and innovation, and for the deepening of professional skills, especially in the areas of Landscape Architecture Design and Landscape Planning. Career Opportunities
In terms of professional practice, the 2nd Cycle course of Masters in Landscape Architecture is considered to prepare graduates for a wide range of professional careers:
a) Design Offices, Outdoor Space Construction Companies, City Councils, Local Technical Offices, Ministries and Public Institutions, in the areas of​project development, land use, evaluation and management planning;
b) Green Space Construction Companies, City Councils and Local Technical Offices, in the areas of​preparation, monitoring and site supervision;
c) City Councils, Local Technical Offices, Ministries and their departments and Public Institutions, in the definition of development strategies and policies;
d) Protected Areas and Public Institutes, in the area of​studies, management and conservation;
e) Consultancy companies, City Councils, Universities, Ministries and their departments and public institutions, in the preparation of studies and opinions;
f) Basic or applied research in Higher Education Institutions or Research Centres;
g) Teaching at the level of Higher Education and Secondary Education.

At the level of Master's in Landscape Architecture, students are expected to have the capacity to develop their own methods, critical ability, creativity and professional attitudes resulting from the accumulation and sedimentation of knowledge and teamwork, and to be able to respond to the demands of professional practice and those of national and international professional associations.

Admission Requirements
- Holders of a bachelors degree or legal equivalent in the areas of Landscape Architecture or related;
- Holders of a foreign higher academic degree, resulting from a 1st cycle of studies organised according to the principles of the Bologna Process, in the course areas or related;
- Holders of a foreign higher academic degree recognised as meeting the objectives of the achelor's degree;
- Holders of academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognised as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle.
