General Objectives
To maintain the high level of professional training in Forest Engineering recognised in graduates by this University.
To ensure the acquisition of advanced level skills in the various scientific areas of the course, with special emphasis on the deep recognition of components and interactions in forest ecosystems, developing and applying the concept of sustainability in forestry practice, with a view to the future conservation of natural resources.

Specific Objectives
Engineers with this advanced training should be able to design, prepare and carry out innovative projects and studies in a multidisciplinary environment involving the various components of resources, activities and forest assets. Graduates will consolidate their skills at the level of:
- inventories and modelling of forest resources;
- GIS functionalities;
- forestry planning.
They will have the technical and scientific capacity to perceive and solve problems in the following areas:
- conservation and sustainable management of forest and agroforestry resources;
- ecology and fire management;
- ecology of riparian systems and protection of biodiversity;
- sustainable land management;
- restoration of forest ecosystems;
- management of game resources;

Career Opportunities
Paid employment is commonly available to Forest Engineers.
Among the bodies that contract Masters in Forest Engineering, the following stand out:
- Natural Resource Management and Planning Companies,
- Forestry Industries,
- Parks and Natural Reserves,
- Associations of Producers and/or Forest Owners,
- Central and Regional Public Administration Services and City Councils.
- Scientific Research Institutions
An increasing number of Forestry Engineers opt for self-employment, on the strength of the entrepreneurial skills of our graduates at the planning and forest management level.

The Bologna study plan is organised in curricular units, in which the student will have teaching sessions of a collective nature, personal tutorial sessions, internships, projects and fieldwork.
Conducting application works from real examples will allow a level of learning aimed at: 1) the approach of the forestry component within the different land-use planning instruments and 2) the development of tools for the management and monitoring of forest stands.
The interaction of students with potential employers, which takes place in the second year of the course ("Business-University Project" module), is aimed at ensuring that students meet the conditions for professional integration.
Attendance of, and achievement in the academic component makes it possible to obtain a postgraduate diploma, and the final classification of the Masters is obtained by the arithmetic mean of the non-rounded-up classifications of the school part and the classification, during the public defence of the dissertation, of the project work.
Admission Requirements
- Holders of a bachelors degree or legal equivalent in the areas of Forestry Sciences or related;
- Holders of a foreign higher academic degree, resulting from a 1st cycle of studies organised according to the principles of the Bologna Process, in the areas of Forestry Sciences or related;
- Holders of a foreign higher academic degree recognised as meeting the objectives of the bachelors degree;
- Holders of academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognised as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle.
