Academic Degree
Bachelor (Bologna 1st cycle degree)
General Objectives
The 1st cycle in Environmental Sciences provides a multidisciplinary training, giving graduates the skills to interpret the physical, chemical, biological and socio-economic processes related to the operation of environmental systems. Students will perform environmental characterisation analyses (soil, air, water), data treatment and predictive models, interpret results in terms of impact on ecosystems and legislation, know how to integrate information and define environmental land use and management processes, upgrading/restoration processes. The course aims to train professionals in different fields in the area ofthe environment, with applications in several contexts:
- business - consultancy and environmental services, in the fields of nature tourism, monitoring studies and environmental impact assessment;
- research - postgraduate training and research in the areas of environmental sciences and engineering;
- State bodies, municipal and multi-municipal enterprises. Graduates should acquire the following competencies: Understand the physical, chemical, biological and socio-economic processes related to the operation of environmental systems; develop skills that allow them to analyse and evaluate environmental problems, based on the knowledge acquired in the different areas, from an integrated perspective; develop capacities in the research of specialist literature, in the design and development of experiences, in the interpretation and discussion of results; develop a set of transverse skills applied to Environmental Sciences. In short, the Degree in Environmental Sciences aims to train professionals with skills in the field of waste management, environmental upgrading, environmental impact studies, planning of natural spaces, environmental monitoring, information systems, education and information in the environmental area, and other matters in the field of the Environment.
