General Objectives
Economic changes have increased the complexity of management. Working professionally in management implies having a deep knowledge of the structure and strategic behaviour of organisations. The achievement of this aim relies on a foundation in economic science, analytical tools and analytical methodologies useful for the perception of the context in which they act and for the definition of corporate strategies. The main objectives of this course are:
- To develop knowledge/skills that cross the areas of microeconomic theory and economic policies with that of the business sciences;
- To provide knowledge capable of perceiving and evaluating the components in which the company operates, in order to formulate business strategies in dynamic and complex environments. - To provide the scientific bases for working in industry, finance, consulting, public and non-profit organisations and to pursue 3rd cycle studies in the area.

Career Opportunities
This course is in line with that established by European reference schools in the fields of Economics and Management, aiming to provide students with the skills to understand an increasingly dynamic and complex economic environment, without neglecting the instruments and techniques adopted in the modern management of organisations, particularly by private companies. This course aims to provide students with a foundation in economic theory, analytical tools and analysis methodologies useful for the perception of the context in which companies operate and the definition of competitive strategies and practices. With the training provided, students should be able to work: (a) with thoroughness, critical spirit and argumentation qualities in formulating problems and solving issues of phenomena related to economics and management; (b) with expertise in economics and management to deal with complex business issues and develop solutions in situations such as market failures and the need to restructure/reposition companies, (c) in response to the challenges of innovation and entrepreneurship; (d) with lifelong learning skills, in a self-directed, autonomous way.
The course is designed to respond to a wide range of training needs in industry, finance, consulting, public and not-for-profit organisations and pursuance to the third cycle of studies in the areas of economic and business sciences.

Admission Requirements
- Holders of a foreign higher academic degree, resulting from a 1st cycle of studies organised according to the principles of the Bologna Process, in the areas of Economics and Business sciences;
- Holders of a foreign higher academic degree recognised as meeting the objectives of the bachelors degree;
- Holders of a bachelors degree or legal equivalent in the areas of Economics and Business sciences;
- Holders of academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognised as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle.
