General Objectives
The Graduation in Communication and Multimedia aims to train professionals able to respond to the demands of today's society, with special focus on new forms of communication on digital media, where the production of multimedia content and Internet play an important role. The licensee shall, therefore, possess a solid background in the technologies related to editing and information publishing, with emphasis in digital based technologies, to content production and multimedia applications development, based on the Internet or offline media. The Communication and Multimedia professional cultivates a spirit of continual curiosity, characterized by the relentless pursuit, expansion and updating of knowledge, essential given the rapidly evolving technologies in the digital knowledge era.
In addition to these objectives, the Graduation in Communication and Multimedia intends, also endows them skills for projects realization and research in the areas of Design, Multimedia Content and Web, including project and product making, applications or multimedia services through the use of digital technologies and design and conduct creative audiovisual products for multisensory / interactive communication. Of graduates with this training, corresponding to 1st cycle, it is expected, also, the possession of abilities to solve problems in their professional field, be able to collect, select and interpret specific information of the field, know to substantiate and communicate the proposed solutions, develop skills and motivation for lifelong learning. Further, the communication and multimedia professional should integrate, in a coherent whole, project development (in different supports/through different means) with refined aesthetics quality, technical and conceptual.

The graduates in Communication and Multimedia are intended to integrate companies stuff/organizations/teams in the area of Information Technology and Communication, namely the ones aimed for project, adaptation and management of information diffusion, as well as their production, commercialization and/or maintenance, WEB applications development, multimedia applications and products for mobile communication systems, games, computer animation, institutional multimedia production (corporate image, marketing, business communication), pedagogical/educational production, video production (fiction, documentary, advertising), project development under culture scope, conduct multimedia installations and digital arts, 3D visualizations production for architecture offices. Are likely to perform duties, among others, in the service sector, in the industrial sector, in public administration, in media, in teaching and research. Areas such as production and content broadcast, driven by strong economic motivation (i.e. Digital Television) are also a potential source of recruiting to employ a large number of professionals with this profile.
Graduate Profile
The Degree in Communication and Multimedia (CM) intends to train professionals capable of responding to the demands of the current society, with special emphasis on the new forms of communication in digital support, where the production of Multimedia Content and the Internet play a relevant role. The professional to be formed should, therefore, have a solid base in the related technological areas:
- Publishing and publishing information, with emphasis on digital based technologies;
- the production of content;
- the development of multimedia applications, based on the
web or offline media.
In addition to these objectives, it is also intended to provide future professionals with the capacity to carry out projects and research in the areas of Design, Multimedia Content and the Web, including designing and implementing multimedia products, applications or services, using technologies.
In short, CM graduates are expected to be able to solve problems in their professional area, know how to collect, select and interpret information specific to the area, know how to base and communicate proposed solutions, develop skills and motivation for learning throughout life.
Entities to Practice
They may come to perform functions, among others:
- In the services sector and / or in the industrial sector;
- In public administration;
- In the media;
- in teaching and research;
Areas such as the production and dissemination of content, driven by strong economic motivation (eg Digital Television) are also a potential source of recruitment to employ a large number of professionals with this profile.
