General Objectives
The Master in Urban Challenges aims to analyse challenges and responses to the domains of support for a sustainable city, considering 6 Dimensions or Scientific Areas: the Physical Dimension; the Social and Educational Dimension; the Environmental Dimension; the Technological Dimension; the Governance Dimension; the Economic Dimension. Teaching is taught in Portuguese, Galician and Spanish, and the teaching of each curricular unit is the responsibility of two Ph.D. teachers, one of the three universities in Northern Portugal, and the other of one of the three universities in Galicia. The teaching teamwork allows the offer of complementary and holistic views, considering the nature, identity and idiosyncrasy of the two countries, Portugal and Spain.

The Universidade sem Fronteiras (UNISF) [University without Borders] is born from a partnership between the 6 public universities in the Galicia-Northern Euroregion of Portugal, led by the University of Minho as the main beneficiary, and the Fundação Centro de Estudos Eurorexionais (FCEER) [Foundation Center for Eurorexional Studies].
The universities that are part of the network of public universities in the Euroregion are: the University of A Coruña (UdC), the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), the University of Vigo (UV), the University of Minho (UM), the University of Porto (U. Porto) and the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD). The rectors of these 6 universities make up the board of FCEER.
The objective of UNISF is to implement 4 pilot programs of innovative, cooperative and more creative courses, with a clear cross-border and multidisciplinary component, in which the Universities of the Euroregion participate. UNISF project was approved with a total budget of €1,989,628.60, with a co-financing percentage of 75% by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), which represents €1,492,221.46.

The MA students in Cities Challenges will gain a broad understanding of contemporary urban debates, their diversities and possible developments, as well as policies, plans and interventions, acquiring skills to intervene both in public institutions (municipalities and other entities of territory management) and in companies, with intervention in the development of the territory. From the analysis of the high number of municipalities of the Euro-region and companies, it can be concluded that for many years, there will be a growing demand for professionals with the type of training found in this master's degree. In addition to this Euro-region, this project will be divulged in Latin America and Africa, notably through the network of higher education institutions of the six universities of the UNSIF consortium.
Admission Requirements
Holders of the following qualifications are admitted to the application:
a) Degree in Civil Engineering, Geography, Computer Science, Information Systems, Social Sciences, Education, Architecture, Economics or similar areas;
b) Holders of a foreign higher academic degree conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organized in accordance with the principles of Bologna by a State adhering to this process, in the areas of knowledge mentioned in a).
Selection And Ranking Criteria
a) Order of University preference, chosen by the candidate himself in relation to the Master's course to attend, through a form made available for this purpose, at the time of application (form presented below);
b) Adequacy of the degree of access and curriculum to the contents of the master's degree, according to the established entry conditions;
c) Academic and scientific curriculum (extracurricular training, participation in scientific and academic activities related to the objectives of the master's degree, etc.);
d) Professional experience relevant to the cycle of studies, etc.).

The Interuniversity Academic Commission will determine, for access titles from other branches, their suitability for the contents of the master's degree. The academic file will have a maximum weight of 70% of the total, and other merits a maximum weight of 30%. If necessary, the tiebreaker will consist of an interview, in which candidates will be evaluated for their behavioral and relational skills and motivation.
