General Objectives
The PhD course has as its main objective to offer advanced quality training, to train researchers and to qualify professionals with skills to act in different areas of Chemical and Biological Sciences. It aims to deepen knowledge, based on the most recent results of scientific research, providing students with a solid training capable of producing knowledge in the form of original research, from a fundamental or applied perspective, in the areas mentioned above. It seeks to provide a stimulating scientific environment, normally associated with research projects, that instills in students a spirit of curiosity, learning, research, development of innovative ideas and new technologies. It aims to prepare candidates for a career in the field of Chemical or Biological Sciences in an academic or corporate environment, in research centres or industry, in higher education institutions or governmental institutes.

Admission Requirements
- Holders of a master degree or legal equivalent in the areas of Chemical Sciences or Biological Sciences or related;
- Holders of a bachelors degree with a relevant academic or scientific curriculum recognised as attesting the capacity to accomplish this cycle of studies in the areas of Chemical Sciences or Biological Sciences or related;
- Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognised as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle.
