Assistant Professor at Engineering Department. Born in 1976 in Póvoa de Varzim. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro. He attended the Master’s degree in Urban Engineering from the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra in 2004. PhD in 2011, in Engineering Sciences from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro. He is a Senior Member and Specialist in Spatial Planning by the Portuguese Engineers Association (Ordem dos Engenheiros). He mostly teaches in the Courses of Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture and Geographic Information Systems of UTAD, being responsible for the scientific and pedagogical coordination of the following curricular units: “Spatial Planning” of the 1st Cycle in Civil Engineering, “Urban Planning” and “Urban Management” of the 2nd Cycles in Civil Engineering and Landscape Architecture, and “Infrastructure, Equipment and Mobility Management” of the 2nd Cycle in Geographic Information Systems , having been deputy director of the latter until 2021. He is an effective member of the Center for Transdisciplinary Studies for Development (CETRAD), having assumed in 2020 the position of deputy director of the Center. It began by developing scientific activity in the area of spatial planning, with a particular focus on the dynamics of urbanization and sustainability, in contexts of low-density territories. In this line of research participated in several national and European projects, having published several articles in international journals indexed ISI and SCOPUS, as well as several books, national publications and abstracts in scientific congresses. Since 2011 coordinates the Spatial Studies Group of UTAD, assuming the technical-scientific coordination in the review of several Municipal Master Plans, Mobility and Transport Plans and Strategic Environmental Assessments.
