Hugo Alexandre Paredes Guedes da Silva born in São Pedro, Vila Real. He holds a B.Eng. in Computer Science from University of Minho (2000), a PhD in Computer Science (University of Minho, 2008) and the Habilitation in Informatics title from the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (2016).

He is an Associate Professor with Habilitation at the Engineering Department of School of Sciences and Technology of the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro since October 2020. Ge was a Visiting Faculty at Human Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University (August-December 2017).

At UTAD he in the team which created the Bachelor and Master Programs in Informatics Engineering in 2011 and led the team that created the Master Program in Informatics Engineering and Web Technology in association with Universidade Aberta (2019). Since 2009 he has been part of the management board of the B.Eng., MSc and PhD in the area of Informatics Engineering at UTAD. He was responsible for the creation and implementation of several curricular units in the B.Eng. and MSc in Informatics Engineering. He supervised 6 doctoral thesis and 27 MSc works, having participated in more than 90 doctoral and master’s juries as president, principal and member of the board, in national and foreign universities.

He develops his research activity at INESC TEC where he is a Senior Researcher and was assistant coordinator of the Center for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG) between 2020-2021. His research interests are in the domain of Human-Computer Interaction, with focus on the human factors of artificial intelligence (Human-AI), applied to the areas of accessibility, sport, health and well-being, and climate change. He is the inventor of a granted industrial property patent and co-author of technology transferred to the industry. Over the past decade has integrated research teams and management of 30 research, development and innovation projects, among which are, by their scientific impact, dimension, and social relevance: eCSAAP (PI, 2018-2019), WalkigPAD (co-PI, 2019-2022), NG-CrAI (PI, 2020-2022), Beaconing (2016-2018), NanoSTIMA RL2 (2016-2018), CE4Blind(2015-2016), Blavigator (2011-2012) and INDTECH 4.0 (2018-2021). He was a member of the evaluation panels of research and development projects of the European Commission, Russian Science Foundation, Israel Science Foundation, Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and National Innovation Agency. 

He published more than 150 academic works, including book chapters, articles, and communications in international conferences. He was a scientific reviewer at several international conferences and magazines. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Universal Computer Science (J.UCS) and was a guest editor of 4 special editions published in international scientific journals. He participated and led the organization committee of several international scientific conferences, and he is a Steering Committee member of the International Working Group on Computer Supported Cooperative Work in Design (CSCWD).
