Jaime Sampaio finished his Ph.D. in Sport Sciences at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), Portugal, in 2001. Currently holds a position of Associated Professor with tenure at the UTAD. His main interest are performance analysis in sport, complex and dynamical systems, collective behavior and creativity in sport. He was the director from the Research Center for Sports, Health and Human Development (CIDESD), a research consortium of eight Portuguese high-education institutions (2013-2021). Captured and managed as principal researcher more than 4M€ in research and development funds. In CIDESD-UTAD, he heads the CreativeLab and SporTech – labs dealing, respectively, with Performance Analysis in Team Sports and Technological Applications in Sports. He was the mentor and supervisor of the “Talentódromo Desportivo de Vila Real”, an innovative community project, funded by the Vila Real City Hall, that promotes talent development in sport. His research activity is mainly focused in Performance analysis in team sports, having produced several publications in international peer-review journals (more than 300) and textbooks. He is rated in Google Scholar with an h-index of 64 with 13000 citations and with an h-index of 45 with 5500 citations in SCOPUS. He is currently academic editor of PLoS ONE, the Journal of Sports Sciences and Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport. These outcomes were achieved in collaboration with several reference international centers (BarçaInnovationHub, Escuela Universitária del Real Madrid). His research is frequently presented in several coaching courses from the federations of football and basketball (levels I, II and III). Member of the Performance Advisory Board from the Euroleague Basketball Players. Was also a member from the doctoral and postdoctoral grant evaluation committee from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (2012) and a member at the scientific council for the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (2014-2016, Life and Health Sciences). Member of the National Council of Sport, representing the universities of sports sciences.
