With remarkable participation of researchers from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), within the scope of the Center for Research in Sport, Health and Human Development (CIDESD) and INESC TEC, software is being developed that helps trainers in decision-making. It is a processing and visualization system that, in an easy way, will allow to analyze variables of collective tactical yield, developed from the location of the players.
This interaction between engineering and sport sciences has enabled large volumes of data to be transformed into important reports to assist coaches in their daily decisions. Hugo Paredes, André Sousa, Arsénio Reis, João Barroso, researchers from INESC TEC’s Center for Information Systems and Computer Graphics (CSIG), and Jaime Sampaio, Bruno Gonçalves, Nuno Leite and Nuno Lopes are responsible for this work.
It should be noted that this work is part of the “Macro-to-Nano Human Sensing: Towards Integrated Multimodal Health Monitoring and Analytics” project, a project promoted by INESC TEC, in partnership with CIDESD / UTAD, CINTESIS Research in Health Technologies and Services) and IT (Telecommunications Institute), which anticipates the availability of wearable or even implantable sensors of ever smaller dimensions (nano).
According to the researchers, it is intended to move from the current paradigm of health care (where surgery is the maximum exponent) to a preventive medicine and therapeutic physical exercise, where it acts as soon as possible, so as to better manage the well- being and health problems of the population.
