EURAXESS – Researchers in Motion

The European Commission wishes to step up efforts to promote mobility and the career development of researchers and to consolidate Europe as a leader in the excellence of scientific research.

EURAXESS has been created to encourage and support the international mobility of researchers within and outside Europe. EURAXESS – Researchers in Motion is thus a gateway to attractive research careers in Europe which includes leading research scientists worldwide.

The objective of the EURAXESS portal is to provide a single point of access to the information and services that support researchers and their families when moving within their careers to or within Europe.

The mission of EURAXESS Portugal portal is to support the international mobility of researchers from and to Portugal, becoming a part of the European network of national Euraxess portals that supplement the Europeu portal, operated by the European Commission with local information.

EURAXESS includes several strands, namely:

EURAXESS Jobs

A free recruitment tool;
Currently, the Eracareers Portal hosts all the scholarship and scientific employment opportunities published in Portugal.

EURAXESS Rights

Provides all information related to the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers;

EURAXESS Links

Provides interactive electronic services to European researchers working abroad to keep them in touch with each other and with Europe.

EURAXESS Services

EURAXESS Services is a network of over 200 centres in 38 countries across Europe. As a researcher, you can obtain support from these centres in the planning and organisation of your and your family’s stay. Assistance extends to all areas related to your personal and professional activity, including information on legal issues, social security, healthcare and finance, as well as opportunities for language training and support for the family in its daily life.

The aim is to facilitate the social and professional integration of these researchers and their families (if they accompany them during their stay), allowing them to minimise resources spent on bureaucratic and procedural matters.

The EURAXESS centre of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro is under the responsibility of the Vice-Rectory for Research and Innovation jointly with the Vice-Rectory for Planning anf Internationalization and aims to assist all national and foreign researchers wishing to conduct scientific activities in the Research Units or Centres affiliated to UTAD. The centre is also available to provide extensive support to its researchers who wish to carry out their research abroad by making contact with its European counterparts and various European networks.
