Called “Douro Creative Award” and was introduced to March 1 at the University of Tras-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), premium promoter. The “Douro Creative Award” is inserted in the Douro Creative Hub project, also sponsored by UTAD, which aims to identify, enhance and streamline the different areas of the creative industries of the 19 municipalities that make up the NUT III Douro.
Nationwide, the prize has focused on the Douro, and is divided into three contests: the contest 1 – business ideas in the field of creative industries; contest 2 – projects related to the creative industries; contest 3 – collective entities that include the creative industries.
The Prize aims to be comprehensive, valuing ideas and projects developed by individuals and / or entities whose activity is framed in the areas of creative industries, but also show the importance of this sector for the development of the various activities of the Douro region, in their most different aspects: from working as a lever of business and structuring of new products and services, through social integration, increase territorial cohesion, awareness, differentiation, innovation, etc.
The competition first, business ideas in the field of creative industries, aims to reward innovative business ideas within the areas of creative industries, that foster the emergence of new products, processes, services, new forms of marketing and new market approaches in the region . It is divided into four categories covering all areas of the creative industries, from the Architecture and Visual Arts, Music and Performing Arts, Content and New Media and Tourism and Heritage.
The contest 2 projects related to creative industries, is divided into two categories: projects already executed and projects to run. In the category Projects already executed, aims to distinguish projects ever undertaken in the 2015 period to the opening of this contest, with global location, which differ by their originality, creativity and innovation that bring added value to the region, visibility and competitiveness and they are grouped in at least one of the areas belonging to the creative industries.
In the category “Projects to perform”, aims to distinguish projects to be completed by February 2019, with global location, which differ by their originality, creativity and innovation that bring added value to the region, visibility and competitiveness and are framed in at least one of the areas belonging to the creative industries.
The contest 3 – collective entities that embody the creative industries, aims to enhance the collective entities that do not fit the Creative Industries as its main economic activity, but incorporate in their activities / products / services one or more areas of creative industries in order to maximize and enhance their value propositions, be it business, social or other.
Applications will be received between March 1, 2018 and on April 30, 2018 and its formalization involves filling out an electronic form, according to the Award Regulation statements, available on the website of the “Douro Creative Hub “(www.dourocreativehub.pt).
The Douro CREATIVE HUB Project is sponsored by the University of Tras-os-Montes and Alto Douro and co-funded by the Class Actions Support System for Low Density Territories – Promotion of Entrepreneurship, under the operation NORTH 02-0651-FEDER- 000060, Portugal 2020.
With a duration of 24 months, the Douro Creative Hub is based on the promotion of creative entrepreneurship through the Douro Creative Award; identifying creative; incubation and mentoring (co-working space); organizing a Creative Camp as a collaboration between creative space to support the development and prototyping / proof of concept; and shows the creative and their work (Creative Market Douro).
