The Prime Minister, António Costa, was visiting last February 16, the UTAD, where he signed the contract Collaborative Lab “Vines & Wines”, related to the Vine and Wine, which brings together various entities (UTAD, ADVID , UP, ISA, ESBP and INESC-TEC) around the success of the national wine production, especially of collective marks “Wines of Portugal” and Port.
This laboratory, based in UTAD and having ADVID as a promoter, will keep the focus on the coordinated action of all national wine row to the real priorities of the sector and optimizing the synergies between all the actors will be prompted to encourage the creation of skilled labor, knowledge generator and economic value in Portugal. The scientific community is expected a significant contribution with regard to new knowledge, technologies and applications with the sector actors.
Accompanied by the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, the Prime Minister described this infrastructure as an example of innovation and as a key engine of the future as the country’s development. “This is the time to, once and for all, we assume that innovation is really the engine of our development and this is a strategy that can not be advances and setbacks,” said Antonio Costa, recognizing that this is the time to prepare the 2030 strategy and also the time to give families, economic operators and the scientific community the confidence that this “a path that the country will go through with persistence and determination.”
Commenting on the importance of this lab, Jose Manso, the ADVID explained that it will help “increase the volume and the value of Port wine in the world market, and the demand for efficient response of economic agents to process climate change”.
