Born in Uíge, Angola, in 1965. Degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro. Master in Forest Resources from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro. PhD in 2003, in Agrarian Sciences / Forest Entomology by the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro.
 
Due to the extinction of the Department of Plant Protection, in 2008, joined the Department of Forestry and Landscape Architecture (CIFAP / ECAV). Lecturer at the Bachelor and Master of Agricultural/Agronomic Engineering, Forestry Engineering and Landscape Architecture at UTAD, Responsible for the scientific and pedagogical coordination of the curricular units: "Forest Protection", "Climate Change and Restoration of Ecosystems" and "Plant Protection Urban Forest", and "Preparation of Dissertation I".
 

Deputy-director of the Department of Plant Protection (2004 - 2008), Deputy-director of the Bachelor and Master in Forest Engineering (2009 - 2012), Director of the Bachelor and Master in Landscape Architecture and of the Master in Geographic Information Systems. From 2013 to 2017 was deputy Director of the Department of Forestry and Landscape and member and secretary of the Pedagogical Council of the School of Agrarian and Veterinary Sciences. Scientific coordinator at the Vila Real Science Centre, since 2013. In 2014, joined the National Coordination Commission of the National Action Program to Combat Desertification. Counsellor in the Strategic Council of the Alvão Natural Park, since 2015

Effective member of the the Centre for Research in Agro-Environmental Technology and Biological Sciences (CITAB).
 
Started by developing scientific activity in the field of forest and agroforestry entomology, with special emphasis on the study of forms of integrated protection against insects with emphasis on biological methods through the use of entomological auxiliaries and protection strategies aimed at the conservation of these auxiliary agents. In this line of research, participated in several European projects and published several articles in ISI international journals. Since 2006, expanded its scientific activity to the area of conservational entomology As part of this line of action, participates in several projects in the area of species monitoring for identification and protection, with several articles published in ISI international journals.
